MEP Middle East Roundtable on Fire and Safety
Gary Walton joined a panel of other firefighting experts to discuss the impact of the updated code on the design and technical specifications of a building, and if there was any change in the responsibilities and workings of MEP project stakeholders. They also debated the importance of design in making buildings safe along with inspection during construction to confirm compliance to the design. In addition, the issue of accountability kept creeping into the conversations: the liability of the client, contractor and manufacturer when it comes to fire safety. However everyone agreed that through proper oversight, expertise, and design, most fire-related mishaps can be mitigated.
